Are you in Michigan? If so, we interrupt this Wednesday morning for an important message from Borders:
Greetings Sarah Dessen fans,
Borders is seeking excited participants for a very special Borders Book Club videotaped discussion featuring Sarah Dessen and several lucky fans. We will be discussing her new book, Along for the Ride, which releases June 16th.
The taping date and time has been confirmed for Tuesday, June 2, from 8 AM ET to 1 PM ET in Chelsea, Michigan.
If you are in the Southeast Michigan area, or can travel to Michigan, and would like to participate in this amazing opportunity, please respond via email yrmarketing@us.penguingroup.com . If you are selected to participate, we will contact you with confirmation, location, directions, and other detailed information. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and, if applicable, lodging costs.
In your email response, you will need to supply your name, phone number, and age. We are looking for participants ranging in age from 13-35. PLEASE NOTE: If you are younger than 18, we will also need to speak with your parent or guardian and receive email permission from your parent or guardian that it is okay for you to participate.
We will provide copies of Along for the Ride prior to filming. Though the discussion focuses on the new release, we will also discuss Sarah’s previous books.
Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm for all things Sarah Dessen!

Pretty cool, right? Now, if you have questions or comments about this, contact the email address listed above, as my publisher is setting the whole thing up and I know nothing. Other than I need to be in Michigan, with a cute outfit, and hope I don’t have food in my teeth. That shouldn’t be so hard, right?
In other news, I finished a book yesterday. Not writing one: READING one. Yes, I am lame. I started Meg Wolitzer’s The Ten Year Nap about…well, it feels like ten years ago, but really it’s more like a couple of months. MONTHS! And this is no reflection on the book, which was so, so good. It’s just that I have so little time to read that I only get a few pages in every night before totally conking out. But yesterday, I finally finished, and OH MY GOD what a great book. Whether you’re a mom or not—it’s a story about mothers who have stayed home with their kids, and how that’s affected their lives—you will relate. It’s just that good. I think the next book I begin is going to be Long Story Short, a collection of short- short stories edited by my friend Marianne Gingher that is coming out in the fall. That seems more manageable right now.
Finally, I got a couple of copies of the new Lock and Key paperback in the mail yesterday, and they look SO good. (If I may say so myself.) Regular readers will know that we changed the cover, mostly because the original one with the cutout didn’t really work as a paperback, and I feel like the new one really works. They’re not supposed to go on sale until May 14th, but I’m hearing that they’ve been popping up a few places early, which is very exciting. Everytime I look at this cover, it makes me want to go swimming. Wonder why?

Have a great day, everyone!

I’m so glad you posted about The Ten Yr Nap – I had started listening to it on audio many months ago and couldn’t finish. But the topic really intriqued me and I had a sneaking suspicion it was just the narration that was too monotone and swaying my view. I’m going to pick up a hard copy version and give it another try.
Ohh no fair. Living in Vegas does me no justice. I would have loveddd to go. I’ve read & reread all of your books & would lovee to hear what other people think. This is a bit upseting, oh well
I love the new cover its so pretty<3
Darn! I used to live in Michigan! But even then, I lived in the southwest not the southeast.
Of course. After I move out of Michigan
I’M IN MICHIGAN!!!!!!

This will probably be the only time I wish I lived in Michigan. Oh, well. I wish Sarah would come to California!

Book Tour
Miss Sarah Dessen,
When will you be releasing your book tour dates? I am oh so hoping you will be coming to Austin, TX (HQ of Whole Foods and where FNL is taped, ya know!) or even to Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio. I am willing to drive about any where to meet your beautiful face!

I am so bummed! Finally you will be in Michigan but it is 2 hours away from me and at that time I will be 37 weeks pregnant, not really in any condition to travel
