Hi Sarah, I’m not sure this is the appropriate place for such a comment/request, but my daughter (almost 11) and some of her friends read your books like water! She loves you and is an avid reader. I met you once when I managed the Independent Bookstore in Cary, Wellingtons after your first novel. I thought then how inspiring you are to young readers and writers. So, I was wondering do you make local appearances to schools? My daughter’s advanced language arts class would love to have you come and talk about the writing process. The School is Forest View Elementary in Durham. Is there a possibility that you would entertain this request?

Doris was one of my best friends, and the best adviser I ever had. She kept a box of dog biscuits in her office for my guide dog, and whenever media people interviewed her and asked about them she would just smile mysteriously and tell me about it later. I used to run into you, Sarah, outside her office, and she often spoke of you to me in a way that made me feel that I knew you. So much so that I kept track of you career after I left UNC, and I read your books when they come out. I also loved her fountain pen (even though I couldn’t see it), and the sound of her voice. I can still hear her in my head–that beautiful, soft southern voice–often saying not-so-soft things, but always with humor and with love. I will miss her very much. I am glad that you wrote of her here, as I knew that she was terminally ill but had not yet heard of her passing. Thank you.

Yay, I love Friday Five! You’re house looks so nice and cozy, and it looked even better with the rearranging. Might have to take a cue from you and get myself a designer as well…
Because of your recommendation, I just ordered a copy of Rachel Dratch’s book. I’m sure it will be as amazing as you say. Also, I’m really sorry about the loss from UNC. She sounded like a great woman, just as you are.

1. I love your couch, that is actually really cool for being more of a modern peice then what I usually like. 2. I would be so freakin starstruck if I met you. Your books are just so amazing. Truthfully I have a very hard time going to sleep, but what always helps that? Listening to your books. They are amazing and I go to sleep every night listening to Macy and Wes. And just so you know, your character Annabel gave me the strength to finally tell my family and friends about my depression, my fears and I hear your voice everytime that I am afraid to tell someone what I’m really feeling. You were my life saver, God blessed me with being able to read your books. Thank you!!!
