Too busy, where is the time going? And it’s only 9:14!

Before I run off to do everything I have to do (or at least try to) I have to echo my astute cousin Ben about this whole hot sauce discipline thing. Apparently, Lisa Whelchel, who played Blair on the Facts of Life, is spearheading this movement to discipline children by putting a bit of Tabasco on their tongue.

Personally, I have never been able to handle hot foods. When I worked at the Burrito, just pouring the ultimate hot salsa from the bigger container to the one we kept in the waitstation made my eyes water, and I never even tried the green sauce, because I knew I couldn’t handle it. Meanwhile we’d have customers come in to eat the Ultimate Raging Bull burrito, which had a sauce made with habeneros: some ate it on a dare, and then we had to bring them milk and watch them sweat; others ate it the way I would a grilled cheese, with no reaction whatsoever.

I’m not sure what I think about the Tabasco school of discipline, but it does seem like it would ruin hot foods for you forever. Bad associations, and all that. A lifetime of mild salsa, hold the wasabi, and no spicy chili cheese fries. Seems kind of sad, doesn’t it?

have a good day everyone!
