Hey Hey Hey! How come nobody told me about Fat Albert coming out this Christmas? I heard an ad for it this morning on GMA and couldn’t believe it. I am totally dating myself here, but I used to love the Fat Albert show when I was a kid. It came on Saturday mornings, but late, after all the other cartoons, like the last thing I’d watch before lunch. They’d start with Bill Cosby in the junkyard, and then there was the cartoon, and afterwards Cosby would come back with the little lesson everyone had learned. The trailer looks a little silly, but then what was I expecting? Talk about nostalgia.
(A couple of years back, I was at a school in South Carolina talking to some students. One of them had on a Fat Albert T-shirt, and I told him I liked it. His teacher, who was about my age, maybe a little younger, said “He doesn’t even know what Fat Albert is, he’s too young,” and the kid rolled his eyes. I said, “You’re just like school in the summertime. No class,” and then me and the teacher both just busted out laughing, having our Fat Albert moment, while all the kids looked at us like we were insane. Can you tell I am just so professional?)
Speaking of movies, the Golden Globe nominations were announced yesterday. I only scanned through them to make sure that Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet and Charlie Kaufman were all nominated for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, hands-down the best movie I saw all year, and yes, they were. Whew! I would have had serious issues with the Hollywood Foreign Press if they hadn’t been. Now, I just have to hope the Academy also nominates them. Although to be fair, I guess I should see the other big movies that will probably be in the running first, like The Aviator and Finding Neverland. And I still haven’t even seen the Incredibles, and then there’s Ocean’s Twelve. Man. I need to hit the multiplex. Maybe today? We shall see……
have a good day everyone!
