This will be the last entry for a little while, as I’m heading out of town for a few days. As usual, we’ve arranged it so we have a million and one things going on right up until the Last Possible Minute, which always leaves me feeling like I am rushing on vacation with the pressure of everything I haven’t yet gotten to at my back. But it’s all good. Or it will be, eventually.
I am taking TONS of books with me, all the better to settle in and relax: Empire Falls, by Richard Russo (which I already started, and like very much so far) Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer (I’ve read his second, but not this first one) and My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. (I hope I am spelling that right.) We also have the new Harry Potter (I know, I’m way behind) as well as some fun chick lit in the form of The Waitress by Melissa Nathan and The Loves of a D-Girl by Chris Dyer. I am planning to buy the second Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book while away if any of these disappoint. Gotta have a backup, right?
I will also be armed with a stack of magazines (I’m so behind in my US Weekly reading Britney is still pregnant!) and DVDs. If I can resist rushing out to buy the fourth season of Gilmore Girls when it comes out on Tuesday, I will be mighty impressed with myself. We shall see. Now, all I have to do is pack, organize my house so I don’t leave a mess behind, and pay tons of attention to my dogs so they don’t forget me. It’s the first time I’m leaving Coco since we got her, but I know she’ll be fine. Whether I am, while away from her, is another thing entirely.
Anyway. If you’re checking back to this page, looking for a new entry, and don’t see one for awhile, I apologize. I’ve gotten so in the habit of updating daily, though, that maybe this break will be a good thing. I’ve been thinking lately that maybe I should update less, but with better entries, and not feel like I have to stick to the every day thing. Perhaps this trip will help me break the habit. Again: we’ll see.
Finally, because nothing much will be happening here, I’ll leave you with a site that makes me laugh out loud: Go Fug Yourself . Yes, it’s silly. But then so is fashion. You’re welcome.
Enjoy, be safe, take care. I’ll talk to you soon.
