I get up this morning, turn on GMA, and who do I see? McDreamy. Sa-woon! What a great way to start the day.
I swear, I think I’m just a little bit too into Patrick Dempsey these days. It’s almost eclipsed my Luke Perry fixation, which I just would have never thought was even possible. Times change, I guess. I’m also SO SO happy that Grey’s is new tonight, FINALLY, after what seems like months of reruns. (Which I dealt with by watching the entire first season again on DVD. You do what you have to, I guess.) From the preview, it looks very interesting. I literally cannot wait.
In other news, so far I have 120 comments for yesterday’s entry, all from people just checking in to say hi. Thank you to everyone who took the time to say hello. I have read every single comment, and will continue to do so as long as they come in. This blog is such a strange thing at times, because it’s just me sitting here at the desk off our kitchen, tip-tapping away on the keyboard, with usually no idea who might read it or even care. But now I know so many of you! It’s almost made me a little shy. Almost.
Anyway. Last night, I got to indulge my another of my longtime fixations (even longer than Luke Perry or McDreamy): UNC basketball. The ACC season has finally begun in earnest, which means that I have yet another thing to look forward on TV every week. Last night was great because not only did UNC win, but Duke lost. Which, if you’re a Carolina fan, is pretty much the best scenario you can hope for. (Just as, for a Duke fan, a Duke win and Carolina loss is just about perfect as well.) I’ve written here before about how I used to be so obsessed with Carolina basketball that I got a stomachache on big game days, as if I myself might be expected to play if things got close. I memorized statistics, knew everything about our players and everyone else’s, and talked so much trash to the TV that hardly anyone ever wanted to watch with me. I’ve calmed down now, though. And I’m a much better fan for it, I think, although sometimes I miss that crazy intensity that came with being so invested in a game you almost couldn’t stand to watch the last few minutes, like your heart just might explode before the final buzzer sounded. Even with my new found basketball zen, though, I still had to laugh at this YouTube clip, which was forwarded to me by the fabulous jennyhan:
Bring on McDreamy. And the regular season. We’re ready!
