How much do I love Sam Champion, GMA’s weather guy? They just did a segment on series finales, with everyone picking their favorites. Robin Roberts went with Mary Tyler Moore, Kate Snow with Seinfeld and our Sam picks…Sex and the City. Even better, it was obvious he was a BIG fan. I love it, love it, love it. Carrie obsessives unite!

Meanwhile, yesterday I went out and bought myself a fake owl. It might not keep the other owls and hawks away from my pond, but I figured it was worth a shot. I have to admit, though, that it felt kind of odd to be toting a plastic owl with bright yellow eyes AND a rotating head (when the wind blows hard it bobs and whirls, Exorcist-style) out to my car. I arranged it in the front seat, where it rode shotgun for the rest of the morning, checking out the scenery. When I got home, I stuck it on the bench by our pond, meaning to tell my husband about it, but then, thanks to pregnant lack of memory, I totally forgot. So when he got home and walked over to check on the fish, not seeing it until he caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye, it scared the crap out of him. So maybe it will work? I am hoping so, at any rate, because not only did our fish procreate over the winter, producing one baby, but yesterday we spotted two more tiny ones flitting around. I am trying DESPERATELY not to get attached to the fish, as I know it will only lead to heartbreak: one fell swoop of an owl NOT intimidated by my plastic one and they could all be cleared out. At least I know I tried to protect them, at any rate.

Also yesterday, I made it to my first movie in awhile: Knocked Up. Kind of ironic to go see a movie all about pregnancy when you are yourself pregnant. It just adds a whole other level of…something, I don’t even know what. I have to say I felt like it was a little too long (I felt the same way about 40 Year Old Virgin, though) but overall I really liked it. Plus it was nice to see Katharine Heigl on the big screen, after all those episodes of Grey’s. Plus there were TONS of other people I recognized in the movie, from The Office and SNL and everywhere else. My husband and I kept saying, “That’s….” and “I know!” It was like a game, spotting them all. On the flip side, it’s probably not a good sign that we both got squeamish during the birth scene. Does not bode well, I don’t think. Yikes!

have a good day, everyone!
