So yesterday, both Lindsay Lohan AND Alexander Vinokourov both got busted for not being clean. What’s up with that?
Okay, so maybe you heard a LITTLE more about Lindsay’s trouble than Alexander’s, if only because it was on CNN.com, and every other site, and they had updates about every five seconds on TMZ.com (which is completely addictive, so if you don’t want to get hooked, stay far, far away, I warn you). In fact, right now, you might be saying Alexander WHO? Well, he’s a cyclist who, up until yesterday, had been doing pretty well in the Tour de France, winning a hardcore mountain stage and the most recent time trial. But then he got tested, and it looks like he got a blood transfusion, a big no-no, so out he goes. (You can read more, put much better, here. )He claims he is innocent, that there is too much blood in his thighs (?) which sounds, to me, about as probable as Lindsay’s assertion that the cocaine in her pants pocket belonged to someone else. As did the cocaine they found in her car during her LAST DUI offense, back at the end of May?
Oh, dear. I just don’t even know what to say. Or who I am more dismayed about. Lindsay I just feel really bad for: she’s young, clearly has problems, and doesn’t seem to have a lot of people around her trying to help her stay on the right track. As for Vinokourov, I just feel depressed about cycling and the Tour in general. I mean, does EVERYONE dope? Is it just the way it is, and it’ll never change? I don’t want to believe that, but it’s getting harder and harder to not get cynical.
Okay, quick. Something hopeful. Something uplifting! Something to restore my faith in humanity!
I feel better now.
