I studiously avoided the internet as much as possible yesterday, as it was April Fool’s Day, and I always end up getting suckered. But now it’s April 2nd! Time to start trusting again.
One thing that I am hoping is NOT a joke: that Rob Thomas, the amazing mind behind Veronica Mars, is indeed writing the Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff. At least that’s what it says here. Elsewhere on the web, I have read lots of other fun rumors which are probably not true, including that they are hoping to bring back Jennie Garth to play a teacher at the high school. Can you imagine if it WAS true, though? Because Kelly ended up with Dylan in the final ep of 90210, so they might still be together, and then, he might ALSO make an appearance, which would pretty much be all I have ever dreamed of in my life. I mean, aside from world peace. Which is definitely more important. But still. You get the idea.
In other news, I am busy getting ready for my first public reading in a LOOONG time, on the UNC campus this coming Saturday. (You can find out more here, if you’re interested.) While I’ve done some interviews, and shot two videos, this is the first time I’ve gotten up in front of people in awhile, so it should be fun. Or nervewracking. Or both. I’m planning to read from Lock and Key (out in less than three weeks now!) and from Just Listen, as well as take questions. Preferably about writing or my books, but I could also tackle queries about diaper changing, the works of Sandra Boynton, and, of course, 90210.
Finally, thanks to everyone who gave such good suggestions about my efforts to find a good calendar and get organized. I am working on various options. And also, working to Just Calm Down For God’s Sake, which is the advice my husband offered up (capitals used to make clear it is not the first time, either). Someday, I will find a way to juggle everything that really matters, and let the rest just fall away. Perfectionism just isn’t really working for me anymore, if it ever did. If I can accept that, I think I’ll be a much happier person all around. And that is no joke.
