Hello!

Okay, so I have a LOT to cover today, so I’m going to get right to it. First, a reminder: I’m doing my first public reading in AGES this week, on Thursday, at Wilson Library on the UNC campus. A reception begins at 5, the program at 5:45, and I’ll be reading from Along for the Ride for the very first time (and maybe a bit from Lock and Key as well). Hopefully I will be able to find something to wear besides jeans, Danskos and a J.Crew t-shirt, which is what I have been wearing nonstop for weeks now. If you come, you can see if I succeeded. Find out all the details (about the reading, not my wardrobe) here.

Speaking of wardrobe, I have to say I was very curious when I received this article about an Author Day at a school in Arkansas. Apparently, students dressed up as their favorite authors and re-created that author’s home or place of inspiration. I would be lying if I did not say that I have spent ENTIRELY too much time looking at this picture, of the girl who re-created me, trying to find the meaning of all the objects in the background.

I mean, the books I get. And I do like that she’s wearing black pants, that is VERY accurate. But is that a fruit salad on the table? And a thermos behind her, or something else? At any rate, it’s very flattering. If a bit surreal.

Okay, so this last item is so ridiculously random I can’t even begin to explain it. But I will try. So, I have this really good friend, Dana, who is pretty much the most fashionable person I know. She knows ALL about clothes and, if I am wearing something dressy and chic on Thursday, it’s more than likely that she had a hand in picking it out. Anyway, Dana and I were flipping channels the other night, and we landed on this Mandy Moore movie, Because I Said So. Dana was telling me that she is OBSESSED with this dress Mandy wears in one scene, but she can’t find out anywhere who made it. So I did some research online, and also came up empty. I figure it must be vintage, and therefore most likely impossible to locate, but on the off chance that it isn’t and SOMEONE out there in Internet land recognizes it, I’m going to post a couple of pics here:

No pressure, of course. But I figured it was worth a shot. You guys seem to know everything else, so you never know….

Have a good day, everyone!
