We had a BEAUTIFUL weekend here, just the kind that you need in early February, if only to remind you that warm weather does exist, and will come again. Yesterday it was so sunny and warm that we had a cookout, just because it seemed silly not to. Of course, what usually happens after such a nice stretch of pseudo-summer is we get walloped with an ice storm. But I think it will be worth it, if only to have gone barefoot on the deck for a little while.
Meanwhile, last night I watched some of the Grammy awards. Sadly, they just make me feel WAY old, as I don’t know T.I. from Too Short from Lil Wayne. I only know Chris Brown from Sesame Street, for goodness sake. So pathetic. The thing that MOST impressed me, though, was MIA (the person, not the status) who was running around stage singing even though she is nine months pregnant and about to pop at any moment. Yikes. I mean, when I was that pregnant, all I could do was sit in bed, eat cookies and watch House on DVD. And I certainly wouldn’t have felt confident enough to be rocking some cute outfit. But she did, so good for her. If performing like that doesn’t send you into labor, though, I don’t know what will. I was just glad her water didn’t break while I was watching.
Finally, I spent much of my weekend shredding. (I put this on my Facebook as my status, which prompted my friends and family to think I was going snowboarding. Which is hilarious, but I digress.) Anyway, I couldn’t find a local place to do my stuff, so I ended up buying a new shredder which was much more hardcore than my older one. Then, on Friday afternoon, I sat down with BOTH of them on and fed everything in. It was incredibly cathartic, which just proves what a total geek I am. But I have to say, I’m not alone, as was made clear when my assistant Parker turned up. She looked at the stuff I had to shred, and my shredders, and said, “Fun!” You know, either you’re an office supply/organizer/shredder type, or you’re not. If you are, I know you understand.
