catching up…

In Blog

So somehow, it is Sunday evening already. And I leave on Tuesday morning. WHAT? I know. I have barely unpacked and done laundry and now I need to gear up to head out again. First, though, I’m doing a local reading at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh TOMORROW night, Monday the 16th, at 7pm. I’ll be bringing some t-shirts and water bottles, and the hardest trivia questions I can come up with, so come on out!

And then:

Tuesday, May 17th: Anderson’s Bookshop, Naperville IL 7pm: I did an event at Anderson’s a couple of years back with Laurie Halse Anderson and it was SO great! This is an awesome bookstore and I am seriously pumped to get back there.

Wednesday, May 18th: The Bookworm at the Millard Branch Library, Omaha, NE, 7pm: This will be my first trip EVER to Nebraska. My only experience with the state is that my fifth grade teacher was from there and talked about it all the time. She was a VERY hard teacher but I learned so much in her class. Like, say, that Nebraska is awesome.

Then it’s home again for about a day and a half before I head off to Dallas, then New York and BEA. You know how I am always writing here about how I need to learn to be more present, and take everything one day at a time? I have no choice now. If I think past the next twelve hours, my head hurts. Seriously.

In other news, thanks to everyone who has been letting me know when they see the commercial for WHAT HAPPENED TO GOODBYE running on MTV. I finally caught it after watching the Diary of Justin Bieber, and I have to admit, it was SURREAL to be sitting in a hotel room, hearing my name on national television. WHOA. I know I keep saying that but honestly there are no other words. This last week has been so amazing. I’ve loved hearing from so many of you and finally getting to share the new book, and everyone’s been so supportive. My cup runneth over.

But of course, not EVERYTHING is book related. Last night I got to see the Glee about prom, which was AWESOME. Today, my favorite pair of black Havaianas flip-flops died: a moment of silence, please. They will be missed. (Although I have a lot of Havaianas: they are sort of an addiction for me. But still!) Also, I have developed a NEED for a retractable Sharpie, since getting to use one at the King’s English Bookstore in Utah. Did you know there WERE retractable Sharpies? Me neither! My little dog keeps eating cicada shells, and the cicadas are still screeching non-stop from dawn until dusk. Here at home, life goes on as normal, even as in my Writer World things get crazy. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Okay, husband’s firing up the grill for my last night at home for dinner in awhile. Have a good night, everyone!
