Okay. It may be time to address this:

The ‘Deal’-maker: Kilner helms NL’s Moore romancer
April 09, 2002

Clare Kilner has come aboard to direct Mandy Moore in New Line Cinema’s teen romance “How to Deal.” The British director, who made her debut with 1999’s “Janice Beard: 45 Words Per Minute,” turns her attention to a project based on a pair of young-adult novels by Sarah Dessen. “Deal” stars Moore as a teenager who, surrounded by examples of love gone wrong, decides that love doesn’t exist — until she is proved wrong. Yep. It looks like it’s actually going to happen. To be honest, I’ve known for a few weeks now but have been afraid to say anything since I am incredibly superstitious and was sure I’d somehow jinx it. Here’s the deal, for those of you who are interested: about five years ago, a producer bought the options for That Summer and Someone Like You and a script was written that put the two together. (It sounds weird, I know. But it works somehow.) Basically Halley is the main character—that’s Miss Mandy in the movie—and her and Scarlett’s story is there, along with Macon. That Summer comes in with Halley’s family: her dad is Haven’s dad, Ashley is her sister, etc. Confused yet?

I’ve read one of the more recent scripts and I liked it. There’s some stuff that wasn’t in either of the books, but the main gist of my stories are there, and anyone who reads this on a regular basis or knows me even a little is aware that I’m a total movie freak, so I’m happy.

I’ll keep you posted……
