Tonight, I have to be part of this fundraiser for Manbites Dog and to tell the truth, I’m a little nervous.
Normally getting up in front of people is not a big deal for me. I got over that back when I waitressed, and had to stand at the end of one of the huge picnic tables at the Burrito, with 10-12 people slurping margaritas and ignoring me until I’d shout, “Hello! Over here! Hi, yes. Can I get you all some chips and salsa while you look over the menu?!”
Then, once I started teaching, getting up and talking in front of people was a daily thing. Add in appearances and booksignings, and I’m fine. But something about being on a stage in front of people is a little nervewracking. Luckily my parts of this benefit are very short, and I can read off a card. Memorizing was REALLY never my strong point.
In other news, I just have to say that I predicted Rachel’s baby would be named Emma. My call was Emma or Molly, and I am so proud of myself. I just wish I’d bet money on it.
That’s all I have for now. Really. I’ll try to be more interesting next time…..
