Yes, people. The holidays are upon us.
(That’s my dog Scout. She is the most wonderful dog in the world, as well as the most long-suffering. She just puts up with so much. Even antlers.)
Anyway, Christmas is right around the corner, and you know what that means. Shopping lists. Mistletoe. Fruitcake. And, the end of classes. Already.
Tomorrow is my last day with my students. How is that possible? It seems like only yesterday I was walking in to start everything, and now we’re done. Then I have a grading frenzy for about forty-eight hours, followed by a packing frenzy, followed by London.
London. Ahhhhhhh. Do I need a vacation. Oh, man. You have no idea.
How is it that it’s already December? You know, it’s true that time goes faster the older you get. Remember when summer vacation went on forever? Now it seems like there’s just a blip between May and August, and then it’s done. I’m just hoping the same will apply for these cold grey winter months, which I hate. Bring on spring! (Please.)
For the meantime, though, I am going to try and enjoy the season. I will savor wearing my turtlenecks, take deep cleansing breaths when someone cuts me off in the shopping mall parking lot, allow myself that extra bit of chocolate because, well, I need it. Don’t you?
have a good day, everyone….
