So much for the Oscar pool. Talk about upsets!
Total honesty: I went to bed after the supporting winners were announced, as I’ve been battling a cold for a WEEK now that just will not go away. Sleep is always the antidote, and by about an hour and a half in I felt like I’d gotten a full Oscar experience, if such a thing exists. After the supporting categories it’s always about two hours before director, actor and actress, and I just didn’t have it in me. I’d picked Nicole to win, but Adrien Brody was a shocker. Who knew?
Meanwhile, I finally saw Chicago yesterday. And I really liked it. Although I must admit I was somewhat distracted by how skinny Renee was in it, especially during the dance scenes. Yikes. She was scary skinny….and doesn’t the camera *add* ten pounds? I hope she’s eaten some donuts since then, or something. I mean, really. But the movie itself was really interesting, just so different: I can see why it’s gotten so much praise. It’s so easy to do the same thing everyone else is doing, tell the same story the same way. When someone manages to be truly innovative, you take notice.
As for my exciting life, I’m about to go to the grocery store. Where I just might eat a donut. You never know.
have a good day everyone!
