Okay, so by this time tomorrow it’s going to be REALLY windy. Supposedly. I don’t know what else I can do: we have batteries, water, flashlights, spaghetti-os and cheese grits (power outage food!) a chain saw, a generator, a propane grill, and beer. I think that’s the checklist. Now, all we can do is sit and wait to see what happens. Right now, they’re calling for us to get high winds and about six inches of rain. But one twist northward or southward and everything could change. Yikes!

To distract myself, I’ve been catching up on my TiVo watching, and have found two new shows I really like. One is Ellen DeGeneres’s New Talk Show , which I am finding to be oh so enjoyable. I’ve always liked her standup stuff, and I think she’s perfect for the talk show format. Plus she’s already had on Sean Hayes AND Megan Mullally, so you just can’t go wrong there. If you go to that website, you can suggest names for her dog. What about Monkey? It’s good enough for Dexter (and me). Might work for her.

I am almost—but not totally—embarrassed to admit the other show I’ve been watching: Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Oh, my gracious goodness. I fear for these people. Especially Jessica Simpson, who I hope has just been edited into looking foolish and whiny and impossible, and isn’t really all that bad in Real Life (whatever that means in these days of reality television, but that is an entirely different entry.) It’s one thing for Ozzy to be completely the butt of most jokes, if only because he’s OZZY: he can take it. But Jessica Simpson….I just feel sorry for her. Does she not realize how she comes across? That America will not sympathize with you when you whine that no one will do your laundry so it’s just piling up the huge foyer of your mansion? There’s a trainwreck appeal to this, I know, that’s why I think I’m watching it, even as I shudder and wince, and keep picking up the remote to turn it, oh, God, please, I can’t watch. But then I do.

In other news, I’m still reeling from the overwhelming response to yesterday’s entry. How cool is that? Many awesome movie night suggestions…I especially liked the one celebrating Peter Gallagher’s eyebrows. And it’s nice to know that today, as I go out to hunt down Girls Just Want To Have Fun on DVD, that I am not alone in loving that movie in all its cheesy goodness. Yesssss!

have a good day everyone!
