Amazing: we never lost power. In fact, other than the wind blowing so hard it rattled the house at times, Isabel was Not So Bad. For which I am oh so grateful, because I think we’ve had enough natural disasters to last us for awhile. It WAS scary to watch the trees bending back and forth though, and I think I’ll be spending more of my weekend than I’d like to picking up branches and raking up leaves. But if that’s the worst, I’ll take it. While my husband watched Threat Matrix (the worst name for a show ever, in my opinion) I settled in with my laptop DVD player, a glass of wine, and Center Stage. Let the wind blow! Watching it, I couldn’t help but think that the new game should be Six Degrees of Peter Gallagher. I mean, he is in EVERYTHING, isn’t he?
Meanwhile, I’m so unhappy with AOL it’s driving me crazy. I think it may be time to make the break. The only thing that’s holding me back is it’s going to be such a pain in the butt, having to change all my addresses everywhere, but I keep not getting emails, many of them important, and I can’t abide that. Has anybody else on AOL (IS anybody else on AOL anymore?) had this problem lately? It’s just been in the last couple of weeks, but it’s making me nervous not knowing what else hasn’t been getting through. Sheesh.
In happier news, it’s Friday. A beautiful day, post hurricane, the sun out, sky blue. I don’t want to spend it stressing about email. In fact, I don’t want to spend much time at all anymore stressing about email, or deadlines, or Things I Have To Do. Yesterday, with everything turned off in case we did lose power, I spent about three hours curled up reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which is just SO good, and I realized that I’m actually happier not having my finger on the pulse of the information superhighway. MUCH happier, in fact.
have a good day everyone!
