Ah. Friday.

A few things to discuss today, before I take the weekend off because of various festivites and holiday obligations. First, yesterday I went to see Stuck On You, which was actually much different than I expected it to be. Everytime I told someone I wanted to see it they made a face, like it was just going to be so offensive and obnoxious. But it really wasn’t. It was, in fact, sweet. I know, I know. It doesn’t *look* that way. But it surprised me. And, bonus, it has Cher in it. How can you go wrong with Cher? I’ll tell you: you can’t.

(As an added note, I have to say I saw it at 1:45 yesterday, private showing, had the ENTIRE theatre to myself. So bizarre, as it always is.)

Second, I have to say something about The Simple Life, which I embarrassed to admit I even watch. But okay, now that it’s out there, let me say this: I think this show has begun its own genre. Like quasi-reality TV. Clearly, so much of this show is staged. So much that it isn’t even “reality” TV, which is also staged, but at least they make an effort to make it look like it isn’t. I don’t even know what to think about this show. It’s like a trainwreck. And Paris Hilton, as I’ve said before, is like some exotic bird, not even human. She fascinates me. And so I watch. Why? I have no idea. I mean, it’s not like it has Cher or anything.

In other news, Mona Lisa Smile opens today. Yes! Finally, a holiday chick flick. This week has been good also for N.C. authors, as both Big Fish (Daniel Wallace) and Cold Mountain (Charles Frazier) saw their books be made into movies that were nominated for Golden Globes. Sadly, How to Deal was overlooked. Oh, well. Maybe Cher would have helped?

There you have it. An Cher-themed entry. Pretty impressive for 8:41 in the a.m., if I do say so myself. Now I will take this sense of accomplishment and head out to get ready for our annual party and guests. Wish me luck!

have a good weekend everyone….
