Yesterday, the UPS man brought me a package. I thought it might be my copies of This Lullaby in paperback, which I’m hoping will turn up soon, but no, it was smaller. I opened it up, looked down into it: just one book. And I knew. I swear, it never gets old. So I pulled out my very first REAL copy of The Truth About Forever, and then I shrieked. And then I got all choked up. (So embarrassing, but true.) And then I rushed over to show my husband, and we looked at it, and admired the cover and the back cover and the fact that my name was embossed and I tell you, it was just the best thing ever. Writing is SO much about delayed gratification: seventeen months after writing the first words of the book, I’m holding it in my hand. It’s insane. Truly!

(It goes on sale officially on May 10th, although sometimes they do turn up in stores a bit earlier.)

Last night I slept with it on my bedside table, so when I woke up it was the first thing I saw. And this is my SIXTH book. Like I said, it never gets old. At least it doesn’t for me. Also yesterday, the interview I did with BWI a few weeks back went up on their website. I will warn you: THERE ARE SPOILERS ABOUT THE NEW BOOK IN THIS INTERVIEW! Not big ones, but they are there. Just so you know. Check it out here, if you’re interested.

As for me, I’m off to take my dog Scout to the vet, which will lead to great drama as it means Monkey has to be left here alone, and it is guaranteed he is going to freak, i.e. shriek, bark, rattle the bars of his dog crate, drool uncontrollably, and hate me when I return. Ah, the joy of Thursday.

have a good day everyone!
