First things first, for all of you at work right now (I’m talking to you, Courtneymay):
Okay, so lots to cover here today. First, I’m a day late in letting you know that the anthology the wonderful Megan McCafferty (Sloppy Firsts, Second Helpings) put together, Sixteen: Stories About That Sweet and Bitter Birthday, is now on sale, featuring stories by Zoe Trope, Joe Weisberg, Megan herself, and many others. (And one from me, too.) Very exciting, good summer reading, so pick it up if you get a chance.
Speaking of reading, my lovely publisher has put up a great page about The Truth About Forever, featuring a nice long excerpt (Chapter Two!) for those who haven’t read the book yet. I have also heard, but not seen, that there are mentions of the book in YM and Cosmogirl this month. Very cool.
Last night, I had a great reading at the Regulator, where I got introduced by a couple of old friends, Betsy and Dru, and had some familiar faces in the audience as well, which was really nice. As fun as it was to be on tour, it’s always nice to come home and read in places I know so well. So thanks to everyone who came out.
Finally, no entry could possibly be complete today without a discussion of American Idol. Here’s what I think: we may just have a backlash. I mean, yes, Fantasia was great last night. The gospel choir? Fantastic. The red dress, singing “Summertime?” Beautiful. But Simon telling her she’s already won? Maybe a mistake. People do like an underdog, remember. At any rate, it should be interesting. To say the least.
have a good day everyone!
