Good morning.

Well. The wedding was lovely, my friend Leigh gorgeous, and the sun came out just in time for the vows. I spent all yesterday recovering—I wore really nice but really high heels, and my feet paid dearly—and now another week begins. Are we ready? Do we have a choice?

First things first: I’ve been reading over a bunch of new guestbook entries, and I just want to say thanks. A lot. I can’t tell you what a nice thing it is to be able to click on something and read such nice things about the books. I’ve been so nervous about how The Truth About Forever would do (although I am a bit more relaxed now that it’s been out for awhile) so hearing your comments has been a real boost. And I do read them, every single one. Thank you!

Also thanks to the folks who have put up sites about the books, including this new one , as well as YA Connection and the longest running club of them all, Sarah Dessen Deserves Stars (I can remember when there were NO members, which was sort of depressing. There are a few more now!) I’m very flattered by all these sites, so thanks for that as well. And I’ve heard some talk about a livejournal community, so if that happens, I’ll let you know.

Meanwhile: Monday. I really want to go see Saved! this week, although I heard from my friend Courtney it’s a bit different than the previews make it seem (which is often the case, I guess, with movies these days). I also want to make spinach lasagna, finally take a bunch of stuff to the thrift shop, organize my makeup drawer (which is so full of Clinique free gift stuff it’s appalling, and I never use any of it) and, oh, I don’t know, relax maybe?

Ah, yes. Relax. I was talking to someone the other day about how busy this last month and a half or so has been, with the book coming out, and the tour, and all the local appearances, and how I wasn’t sure what to do with myself now that I was done. And he said, “I know you didn’t ask me what you should do, but I’ll tell you anyway. Just relax. Read. Sleep. Sit on the back porch and eat some watermelon barefoot,” and so on. This is a person who I don’t know all that well, but I admire, which is why even though EVERYONE I know (and some folks I don’t) are always telling me to relax, I’m really going to make an effort to follow his advice. Seriously! (I can hear my mother sighing in disbelief, all the way across town). The truth is, I’m a bit tightly wound. I fidget, I drum fingers, I’m always thinking of the next thing to do on my list. But this, I swear, is my summer pledge. Kick back more in summer 04! Who’s with me?

have a good day everyone….
