(It’s 7:34. What am I doing up so early? I’m supposed to be on vacation! *sigh* )
Anyway, an early start, as I have tons of stuff to do today. Last night, we went out to see Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, which I thought was just so supremely silly, but also very funny. Watching it, I started thinking about this whole new wave of films by this small group of people who all put each other in their movies. Such as: you had Old School, with Luke Wilson and Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn, then Starsky and Hutch with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn, and then Dodgeball with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, and Zoolander with Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrell. And then there’s a scene in Anchorman where they all show up, which just adds to the joke. If Entertainment Weekly hasn’t done a short piece on this—complete with a family tree like graphic, detailing who was in each movie—-they should. Personally, I thought Anchorman wasn’t as good as Old School or Starsky and Hutch, and a bit below Dodgeball. But it had some great laugh out loud moments, and most movies can’t even pull that off. Plus, Will Ferrell. I mean, please.
In other news, thanks to all who showed interest in Sarahland. I’m honestly at a loss for words at how many people are into the books…it flabbergasts me. I know I’ve said this before, that writing is so solitary and that sometimes I sit here and wonder if anyone even CARES what I’m trying to do, and then I get proof like that. What can I say…I’m verklempt. Seriously. You guys made my day.
Speaking of days, I better get going on mine, it’s going to be a long one. And a hot one, but that goes without saying. Oh, and as a final note, I finished Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging yesterday, and I have to say that of the three YA books I read in the last couple of weeks (that one, Gossip Girl, and the first Traveling Pants) I thought it was the best. Just very unique, and funny. (Maybe this is because I am such a Bridget Jones, which it clearly takes a bit from, but still.) I think I may have to go get the others. Don’t you just love summer reading?
have a good day everyone!
